| The seventh annual Heathcote Wine & Food Festival is on the weekend of October 4 & 5, 2008.
Many whose opinions are respected state openly that Heathcote is becoming the benchmark region for full-bodied, rich, fine, Australian red wine, particularly Shiraz.
Others simply love it.
The winegrowers of Heathcote produce wines of extraordinary quality, from tiny artisan vineyards to winery brands that most will know. Over 40 of the Heathcote winemakers are presenting their wines to taste and enjoy, along with very complimentary food, produce and entertainment, over a weekend of rare opportunity. You just don’t get this level of quality at a single event very often.
The Heathcote Showgrounds in Chauncey Street is the venue, from 10.30am to 5pm on the 4th and 5th October, 2008. It’s only 112 km from Melbourne via the Hume & McIvor Highways, and there’s a range of hospitable accommodation (book soon!).
Entry is $25 for the day for adults, which includes all the tastings you’d like. Concessions include $10 for non-drinkers (perhaps the designated driver), and no charge entry for kids. To really try the lot, you may want to buy a two-day pass for $40.
