Kidney Kar Club Rally |

Our Kidney Kar Rally will travel from Sydney to Mudgee via Mildura in 2008 - spreading the word about organ donation and kidney health in regional areas. It will be held between 15-23 August 2008 and it will be our 20th year! Entrants come from various parts of Australia and participate in ALL types of vehicles. Not just for those with rally class vehicles - any road registered vehicle can take part. These exciting events have raised much-needed funds for research, education, consumer participation and health service programs, in addition to supporting our 'Kidney Kids' Program, whilst also raising awareness of kidney disease in the general community. Entry fees for the Kidney Kar Rally are raised by entrants - in the form of donations or proceeds from fundraising events (The 2007 KK Rally raised over $500,000 for Kidney Health Australia). The Golden City Collectors Ass is a well recognised and Registered Collectors Club and has been displaying their annual collectors show for over 25 years. The show caters for many collecting themes and interests also has many trade tables for collectors who may want to add to their collections. Interesting collection displayed usually include- Ciols, Medals, Firearms, Pistols, Knives, Swords, Dolls, Buttons, VC Display, Pre and Post war Collections, Models, Posters, Walking Sticks Just to mention a few of the possibilities.Basically anything collectable, held and displayed by a collector. The show also this year will hold the Blue and Grey Re-enactment group giving an insight into the history of the Civil war in America. The weekend will cater for all members of the family and will have catering available all weekend. Entry is $5 single and $10 Family. Time:9 to 5 Sat 23rd August 2008 and 9 to 4 Sunday 24th August

As part of the state-wide Art Deco Regional Festival, Buda Historic Home and Garden in Castlemaine has organised a special exhibition At Home with Art Deco which will feature artworks, decorative arts and domestic items relating to the period 1914-1945. On Saturday the 30th August at 1pm, there will be a guided tour of the house, followed by afternoon tea with a 1930’s theme and a talk in Buda’s Garden Room on Art Deco given by Daryl Mills of De Mille Decorative & Fine Arts in Melbourne. Daryl has also offered a valuation session after his talk giving people the opportunity to bring along their objects and jewellery items from the era, for assessment. Cost of the tour, afternoon tea and talk is Adult $15, Concession $12. A valuation session will be an additional $10-$15 per item (limit of 2-3 items per person). Bookings are essential and can be made by calling Buda on Ph: 5472 1032. Buda’s house exhibition will be on view from 29th August until the 28th September 2008
