The sense of discovery that was once achieved by striking gold, can now be felt by stepping into any one of the dining treasures in Bendigo. Established restaurants and wineries with great reputations are set amongst new and vibrant eateries, produce shops and vineyards offering innovation and diversity.
Quality restaurants, cafés and wine bars that showcase the talented people and quality produce of the region are aplenty. Local chefs take real delight in discovering and using locally made products, whether it be hand-fed spring lamb, organic goat cheese or regionally farmed olives. A TASTE OF BENDIGO - Life's A Dish
Bendigo's new pioneers; the restauranteurs and chefs realise that this new energy is special and is to be celebrated in unity. With a tip of the chefs hat to the remarkable Buon Ricordo concept that began in Northern Italy in 1964, Bendigos premier restaurants now offer collectable plates as a souvenir of a memorable, regional dining experience.
Bendigo Pottery, Australias oldest working pottery embraced this idea and joined with twelve Bendigo restaurants to create a hand-painted plate for each venue. Speciality dishes, distinguishing architectrural features and nearby landmarks have inspired the lively artwork on the ceramic plates which are available for purchase at participating restaurants for $19.95 each.
Each restaurant experience will inspire you to visit yet another Bendigo restaurant and collect another plateful of stories and memories. At home, images on the plates will be sure to evoke the essence of the dining experience - be it the flavours, ambience or the special occasion being celebrated.
