Bendigo is good for business. On arrival in central Bendigo, wide streets lined with magnificent buildings, stately gardens and meaningful monuments from the gold boom time will impress your delegates by providing a gracious backdrop for a warm welcome.

A number of Australia’s modern day success stories have grown from an inherent pioneering spirit – Bendigo Bank proudly carries the Bendigo name, as it nurtures community banking throughout Australia, Jimmy Possum creates quality and contemporary furniture in Bendigo for retailers nationwide and Fernwood Fitness Centres began here as an idea. This contemporary city is very much ready for business.

Historic manors have been transformed into idyllic venues, with many waiting to host your business event, convention, seminar, trade show or celebratory function. Event planners can expect to encounter a relaxed yet professional approach throughout these venues across the city.

For conference venues with a difference or for the perfect time out experience, go underground in a real gold mine, rattle along Bendigo’s stunning streets in an historic tram, make a ceramic pot at Australia’s oldest working pottery, have breakfast in a hot air balloon over the city or simply relax alfrescostyle at one of Bendigo’s many quality restaurants or wineries.

Accommodation options abound for delegates ranging from resort-styled luxury, to charming boutique hotels and self-contained apartments. When it’s time to put business aside, Bendigo is rich with treasures for delegates to explore. World-class tourist attractions offer gold history, cultural heritage and many other captivating team building experiences.

Bendigo provides organisers with fresh possibilities, a track record of professionalism and a sense of discovery.

Cr Kevin Gibbins
Mayor - City of Greater Bendigo

Bendigo is one of regional Australia’s grandest cities. It is also a modern thriving city of over 100,000 that lends itself to business, sporting, cultural and recreational pursuits.

Our natural attractions and facilities are first class and our residents are warm and welcoming.

Located in the exact centre of the state, Bendigo is set in an environment of natural Australian bush land with some of the most interesting flora and Box Ironbark Forests to be found in Victoria.

It is only a short drive, less than 90 minutes from Melbourne’s International Airport, has regular airport bus transfers and hourly train services.

Bendigo is also a city open for business and features a diverse range of venues with the ability to host your conference, convention, seminar, trade show or other special event.

It is our wonderful combination of food, wine, accommodation, attractions, shopping, cultural, recreation and sporting facilities that help make Bendigo a great city in which to live, work, visit and play.

Events: a growing industry for Bendigo

Bendigo is one of Victoria’s key tourism destinations. This is not surprising given its central location, close proximity to airports, magnificent history and diverse range of cultural experiences on offer to visitors.

These attributes are also highly desirable for those in event management, and increasingly Bendigo is emerging as a key destination for national and international events.

Events play a significant role in economies – major and business events are worth an estimated $2.4 billion to the State of Victoria. And this figure continues to grow. In addition, the associated employment and business opportunities from events are also significant in sectors including accommodation, retail, transport and hospitality.

Already Bendigo has demonstrated a strong capability and talent for major events. Key art exhibitions such as the Golden Age of Couture and the Archibald highlight this.

Events are a growing industry, and potentially a lucrative and exciting industry sector for Bendigo to capitalise on. I congratulate the City on achievements in the events space so far and encourage you to use these successes as platform to secure future major and business events.
